How to use your Samsung phone to use call notifications March 31, 2022by Martin 6 The Ring video doorbell - and other Ring devices - has a distinctive alert tone. This is a useful ringtone that lets you know when your device has detected motion or when someone has rung your doorbell. Unfortunately, some smartphones run roughshod over this notification and make it the default mode for the device – and Samsung is particularly bad at it. This seems to be because Samsung sets the default notification for all apps and doesn't always recognize that some apps have their own set of sounds. Fortunately, there's an easy fix — and the best place to start isn't in the phone's notification controls, but in the Ring app itself. Open the call app. Click the burger menu on the top left and tap Devices. Select the device you want to control Video Doorbell .
Go to Device Settings > Notification Settings > App Notification C Level Executive List Tones and you will have access to notifications. Then tap Call Alerts or Motion Alerts to select these sounds. If your phone asks you to give the Ring app access to storage at this point, allow it - because it's needed to access the notification sound. The next screen will take you to the Samsung settings where you will see the sound options. Here you choose the actual tone you want. Select the sound you want from the list. The default ringtone is called "Ring - Standard". If it says Spaceline, you're using Samsung's default notification sound. Once you've changed the notification sound to your preference, go back and change any other notification or ringtone devices in the same way.
Likewise, using the same method, you can change your ringtones to whatever your device provides if you want. It's an easy change, but we've often found that if you don't go through this process, Samsung won't always give you call notification sounds because it won't make those sounds available until you give them permission.
